Norquay Technology Inc has many years of experience in preparation of highly purified
organic and inorganic chemicals. Our laboratories are equipped to carry out orienting
studies on quantities as small as a few milligrams, and to scale up to multi-kilogram
runs. After demonstration of feasibility, we can produce ton quantities of pure products.
We use conventional fractional crystallization from solution, and a variety of methods
based on crystallization from the melt. For example, we are equipped to carry out zone
refining of chemicals, from 650 C to over 3000C, in amounts
from a few milligrams to kilograms. In many cases, the impurities concentrated by zone
refining are of as much interest as the pure product, since the impurity-enriched material
facilitates qualitative analysis by coupled chromatography/spectrometry. Zone refining may
be carried out to provide pure material, or to demonstrate feasibility of other,
large-scale melt-crystallization methods. We have extensive experience with sublimation,
which is often uniquely applicable to removal of color-bodies and inorganic contaminants
from organics. Our equipment can handle quantities to tens of kilograms, at sublimation
temperatures in excess of 5000C.
Clients who are interested in
purification are welcome to
submit small samples (1-10gm.) for evaluation, at no cost. A
preliminary examination can usually be completed in a few days. Of course, this
preliminary study is facilitated by our prior experience with hundreds of materials,
including important monomers, electronic materials, and pharmaceutical intermediates. If
our initial study indicates that purification is feasible, we will quote on delivery of an
amount that the client needs for evaluation. This is usually 0.1-1.0 kg, and charges are
typically $1,500 - $2,500. Successful purification opens the way to design of commercial
production facilities, involving our long association with Sulzer
Chemtech.
If you have a candidate material, please fill in the accompanying
